Grief is Love

"Every tear shed in grief was born in love." ~ Tracey Lee

Grief is not an emotion many welcome with open arms. Truthfully, it is an emotion many do their level best to avoid at all costs. I tell you, the cost of not grieving is to great.

Today I grieve with an open heart, for that is how I loved what I am grieving. Tears roll down my cheeks. I feel the sadness. I feel the loss. I am fully available to myself and my feelings.

I encourage you to notice your want to wipe away my tears, your want to encourage me to shift into a different or perhaps more acceptable emotion. That is about your own pain and your own discomfort. In truth, that has nothing to do with me or what I am feeling. Notice that.

Love is being still in the presence of whatever emotion is showing up for yourself and for those you care about. Love is not needing or wanting the other person to change so you can feel more comfortable. Love is BEing with what is with an open heart. Today I love myself in grief.
